Not the Same as in the Restaurant
You went to a nice restaurant and had the best cup of coffee E-V-E-R. Not bitter, a little nutty hint, no bad after taste, yum! So good in fact, that you asked your server what kind of coffee it was. They gladly went to inquire and came back to tell you that it is Douwe Egberts. You couldn't wait to get on Amazon to order your own for home use. After you brewed your first pot or cup, the disappointment set in. Why doesn't it taste the same? Well, I'll tell you why, because the restaurant uses a liquid form of the coffee and a machine that automatically adds hot water to it at a preset amount.
I have cracked the secret though. Buy your Douwe Egberts coffee, then cold press it. If you don't know how to do that search Google or YouTube.
I made my 2nd batch by cold press and let it sit for just over 24 hours. The resulting concentrated coffee, mixed with hot water in a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio, depending on your taste, will be as close as you can get without buying the expensive machine that automatically mixes it. If you add creamer, use real cream or half & half. The powdered stuff will not taste as good.
If you like your coffee cold, pouring the concentrate straight over ice is awesome.
