Use fruit in your shake or you might vomit
Bought this because I'm cutting (in a cal deficit) and needed to up my protein intake to preserve muscle mass. As a vegetarian who eats mostly vegan, finding out that pea protein is comparative to whether protein without the side effects (and animal cruelty!), I was pretty stoked to try it out. I always bloat massively from whey protein and could not find a whey protein that works with my digestive system. This, nutritionally, is amazing. I supplement with BCAA'S already but the fact that this has BCAA'S in it is a huge plus. Next to no fat or carbs but huge on protein. I bough 1lb just in case I hated it and here's my opinion: PROS -Great Mixibility -Great nutritional value -Comparitive to Whether Protein -Vegan! CONS -TASTES HORRIBLE Now I bought this specifically for it's nutritional value and I'm not insane about flavors. I've come to accept that as a vegetarian athlete, enjoying my food is long gone. With that being said, this is one of the most disgusting things I have ever put in my mouth. Alone, that is! The first shake I had I put soymilk, a frozen banana, and a square of dark chocolate with the pea protein. Didn't taste the best but I got it down easily. The second one, the same except I threw a tbsp of almond butter in the mix. Tasted even better, got it down easily. For the last one of the day, however -- oh boy. Because I was coming close to my sugar and fat limit, I decided to forgo the extra stuff and take it straight with a cup of soymilk. Threw it in my to go ninja cup and brought it to work. 1, it condensed in the 30 min it took to drive to work, so more liquid than 8oz is needed to keep it liquid I'm assuming. 2, when I went to drink it it was almost physically impossible not to gag. This stuff tastes like death by itself. I've never tasted something worse, honest to god. Except maybe expired, curdled milk. Word from the wise: If you're going to buy this, make sure you put other stuff (especially fruit) in your shake or you might just throw up. Oh, also be mindful of allergies. Apparently isolate pea protein holds a higher risk for allergens comparative to if you're allergic to soy or nuts.
