lightweight, sturdy, ready to travel!
(review after 2 months of travel usage)
Traveling is tough on luggage. They're subjected to being dragged up and down stairs, dropped, tossed, chucked, kicked, stacked on, sat on, vibrated, hot, and cold. Good luggage isn't cheap but it does save a lot of headaches.
After my Samsonite 25" roller suitcase had its wheels disintegrate while I was traveling for work (the Sammy had been in the family for about 10 years and been on numerous trips before I started using it; going to see if their lifetime warranty stacks up), I looked into getting a new suitcase to replace it (on the company's dime of course). I was told by my fellow traveling coworker that I should look into a Travelpro as his father was a traveling professional and swore by Travelpro.
Lo and behold, Amazon carries Travelpro. Found that the 25" Maxlite was roughly the same size as the Sammy and was a spinner, which I wanted to give a try since all my other co-workers had spinners and it looked easier to maneuver around. I also decided on a soft side case as I felt a "hard" case was going to show wear faster since it doesn't "give" like fabric does (I later on found this to be true as my coworkers hard suitcase had scuff marks and corners pushed in). Ordered.
Upon receiving it, I was amazed (and a little worried) at how light it was. I'm a bit old school and I usually associate weight with strength, the lightness of the suitcase made me wonder how durable it really was. It's maybe 2lbs lighter than the Sammy. This was perfect since I was traveling during the winter and needed to bring more winter clothes with me. I was usually packed the suitcase to around 45lbs (more weight is more wear and tear).
After 2 months of traveling (roughly 4 flights a month), the Travelpro is hardly showing any signs of wear. It has a few scuffs here and there but nothing has broken or torn. The 4 wheels roll smoothly on all surfaces I've rolled it on. The straps and handles show no sign of tearing out or fraying. Zippers haven't jammed.
After two months, I am totally satisfied with the Travelpro.
