I'm rating this 5 stars because the unit is as good as you could get for the money. Granted, for more money you could have more expensive fittings, etc, but they are really not necessary unless you are going to be constantly moving and reassembling. This is my 3rd unit for the house one in downstairs kitchen and one upstairs as well, replacing a 12-year old system that's never caused a problem other than a leak in the UV two weeks ago. Sure I could have replaced just the UV but hey it's time for a complete new system. Complaints about the clarity of the instructions are unfounded as far as I'm concerned. I was replacing a similar unit (different brand) but there were no parts of the old system re-used other than the metal fitting on the cold water pipe, which still required the new compression fitting. The only difficulty with the instructions was the slightly upgraded output faucet which was not covered, but easy to figure out the difference and install. The main caution, as said by a few others, is to make sure you seat the tubes fully into the fittings... it's covered well in the manual and on youtube, but I still managed to have one leak afterward, which was hectic since I already had the unit on the wall of the cabinet and it was now full of water and pretty heavy. Push those tubes into the fitting HARD so you can feel when it goes that last 3/8 of an inch. PROs vs the older unit: 1. Very very nice that they pre-assembled the filter portion, that saves probably 45 minutes for you. 2. Tubing diagram, in color, makes assembly and troubleshooting very easy. 3. This unit has about twice the water volume coming out of the faucet, which is nice if you're filling a coffee pot. 4. Extra Filters included CONs vs older unit: 1. Does not include the UV sanitizer, and they point out twice in the instructions that you need that if you have any chance of microbial pollution. If you are using city water, it's probably not needed, but those of us in the country will need them. 2. Not one complaint about the purchased unit itself. Good quality. I'm almost 75 years old and assembled this without help. I'm blind in one eye, a little senile, and have problems crouching for any period of time and even worse trying to get back up from under the sink. I'm sure it took me twice as long as most people, but the result was well worth it. I like the color coded tubing, easy to see where things go and come from under the sink. Suggestions for easier assembly: 1. Install the faucet first, with the tubing left full length 2. Install the input line from the cold water pipe, leaving the tubing full length 3. Install the tank, tubing full length 4. Install the drain tube cut to the length since the junction with the sink drainpipe is near the front. 5. Place a large rectangular plastic dish pan in front of the cabinet and assemble the connections there, so that you can turn it on and check for leaks before hanging the unit on the cabinet wall. That way you can easily see and fix any leaks without making a puddle under the sink.
