This sleep mat came in the nick of time. I consider myself a slightly above average experienced, 4 season camper. I have been using a cheapy Coleman self inflating mat with a regular foam mat under it & I think it's pretty comfortable. For backpacking, however, I was looking for a compact & lightweight alternative. This had good reviews, though I was a little skeptical of the blow up bag. For the price & ease of use advertised, I took a chance. I went camping with our little 4H group at a local park, just in a campground, beautiful forecast, no big deal. We had a surprise HEAVY thunderstorm in the middle of the night, where I did NOT bother to put on my rainfly for reasons unknown! Well, it was raining inside my tent for at least 4 hrs & my other sleep mat soaked up the inches of water floating around me (to be fair, it never was toted as waterproof). I was reasonably happy resting on tiny island made by my new mat (while I was mentally kicking myself). It elevated me just above the water line inside my tent! It was also very comfortable, especially as I am a side sleeper & getting to be "of a certain age". I wish I had a picture of this awesome mat floating in my tent. Oh, and the bag for blowing it up worked way better than I ever thought it could. It took about 8 full bags of air.
