About what I expected, installation was not as easy as it should've been though
Bought a regular Nest for my parents a while back and they loved it so I finally decided to upgrade my thermostat. I find I am not missing any of the functionality I know the more expensive unit has, and thanks to the rebates from my electric and gas companies it was dirt cheap.
My one complaint is still a complaint for all Nest Thermostats: you need to know if you have a common wire run to your thermostat or not before buying this otherwise you can end up with some unexpected installation costs. I had forgotten about this and thus what should've been a 15 minute install became a 2 hour internet research session. The problem is that if you don't have a common wire already run to your existing thermostat, then the Nest has to draw power to recharge itself (in some setups) by pulsing your heating/cooling system. If your system responds quickly, you can end up with some pretty gnarly sounds from your heating/cooling system. Thankfully there are solutions for this (and I used one of them with success), but most require a professional, and the worst part of this is that Nest doesn't mention a single thing about this throughout the install process.
