This is so light AND powerful. I have to admit that I was a little concerned when it first arrived. Dyson has always sold the same machine with their different price levels and the difference was the number of attachments sold with the vacuum. Since I have the previous model and a large collection of attachments, I figured I would save $100 and get this model as opposed to the Ball Animal 2. I then learned that now this is a lighter model and not with as much suction as the Animal 2. I have to say my concerns were unfounded because this has amazing suction power (seemingly better than the previous model) AND I love how light it is to carry around. The motor sound is also quieter. Dyson's website gives the suction air watts for each model and this has 245 air waits as opposed to the new Animal 2 that has 270. I have more than adequate suction for anything that I need to do and my carpet looks brand new after using it. I just want to point out that someone who wants more power even if a couple lbs more (larger bin, too) it now might be worth considering the animal 2. For someone that takes this up and down stairs I couldn't be more pleased with it. Oh and one other thing. They improved the mechanism for when you stand the machine back up in storage position. You no longer have to shove it or have it come crashing back down to the floor.
