Okay, so this is not generally the type of thing I would buy. I'm a pretty trendy dresser even in my advancing years. However, last weekend I was sweating bullets in the only loungy stuff I had presentable with company in the house and my mother-in-law comes downstairs in the morning as cool as a cucumber without looking like a refugee from the 50s in one of these. I was so impressed with her "robe" (didn't know it was called a house coat) that I bought one. This one by National is really well made, the fabric is lightweight but not see-through, the short sleeves make it perfect for warm days and the snap front keeps it closed and the big pockets make it oddly perfect for my use. It's more colorful than I'd normally get but it's not like I'm going to wear it out. It is perfect for hot summer mornings or nights (I hate air conditioning and last as long as I can without turning it on) or those evenings when you just want something lightweight to lounge in. Although, I can actually see myself cleaning the house in this too... I ordered a medium - I'm kind of a big girl and it is a little large BUT I have a lot of freedom of movement which is good if you're moving around and the extra room does make it airy. I'd definitely recommend this for someone like me that was tired of those short summer tie robes that never stay shut and are a little too skimpy for house guests.
