so this was a perfect solution for me
I've been making crochet afghans for years and wanted to try the S-loom to make a knit afghan. I never mastered knitting, so this was a perfect solution for me. The instructions are easy to follow, and I appreciated that I didn't have to by the loom hook separately. I've been using this loom for almost 2 months and am happy with it so far. Initially, I tried to use a single strand of the Vanna's Tapestry yarn, but switched to two strands when the stitches came out too loose. My goal is to make a thick afghan that will be cozy during the winter.
I agree with the other reviewers about knitting around the corners. I'm constantly turning the loom around to knit around those sections and the inner portions of the S. That's not a big deal, since this loom is compact enough where I can hold it in my lap. The reason I give this loom 4 stars instead of five are the pegs at the top. Compared to another loom, they're too small, which has caused the yarn to slip and unravel when I get to the end of the row. To combat this, I do the e-wrap in sections, hold the end down and knit before I move on to the next section of pegs that need the e-wrap. Despite this issue, I'm able to knit rows pretty quickly.
If you are just starting out, I recommend that you watch the LOOM KNITTING: Knit a Square YouTube video by LoomaHat, plus any other videos you will find. This video will help you avoid the curl that occurs on the bottom of your knitting piece. I wish I had seen this video before I started because now I'm going to have to rely on a crochet border to (hopefully) flatten the edges.
