Update - Worked like a charm for chemo-associated nausea!!!
My mother is undergoing chemo for lymphoma and has been battling severe nausea which she expected. She is 81 and has not been able to keep anything down in days...not her pills or even her nausea medication. She is supposed to stay hydrated and take in at least 2000 calories per day. I take care of her during her down weeks. I was at my wits end and The nausea meds (Zofran) were causing immense constipation. Poor mom! Poor me.. Then it came to me in a flash of light ....Sea Bands!!!! Two of my coworkers used them... One for extreme morning sickness(hyperemesis) and the other for severe motion sickness....both with positive results.
So I got a pair of Seabands to try hem. Didn't tell mom what they were for. Just put them on and let her finish her nap. When mom woke up.... No nausea no vomiting and even the pills stayed down. Three days now and not a SHRED of nausea! She is eating and drinking and her strength and spirits are soaring.
I finally told Mom what the Sea Bands were for. She looked at me and said,"I'm never EVER taking them off!"
I did research later and found two scholarly articles published in two important nursing journals where breast cancer patients reported a much lower frequency of nausea with the Sea Bands than without. I know many docs still pooh pooh alternative medicines but please!!!! This simple cost-effective Method which has ZERO side effects compared to antinausea meds could make a HUGE difference to those on chemo who are afraid of or who are experiencing nausea! What a simple solution......
Give them a try......if they worked for Mom they may work for YOU! Thanks for letting me post!
Update in December 2015 - mom's chemo treatments finished in November 2014 - SeaBands continued to work for her throughout all six of her chemo treatments. She had VERY few episodes of nausea (she remembered to put her SeaBands back on after a shower) - these were a Godsend - PLEASE tell everybody you know who is taking chemo - they cost just $7 - don't stop taking the the nausea meds, but add SeaBands! She is now cancer-free and has been in remission for 12 months - thanks again, SeaBands!
