Just as happy with the "New and Improved" diaper!
When I got an email from Amazon at the end of December saying my Bambo Subscribe and Save shipment was cancelled I was confused, so I did some investigating and found out that Bambo diapers were being discontinued. At the time, I thought they were gone for good and I had a less than mild panic attack because while expensive, these diapers were GOLD. I paid the hefty pricetag because they were environmentally friendly, made with natural/safe materials, and they did not leak...EVER. After a period of mourning my beloved diapers, I soon switched to what I found was the next best thing, Earth's Best diapers. I had originally found Bambo through Baby Gear Lab, who rated diapers on different criteria and after Bambo, Earth's Best was the next best thing (http://www.babygearlab.com/Disposable-Diaper-Reviews/BAMBO-Nature). First, let me say, I really like the Earth's Best diapers. They aren't as soft and plush as Bambo, but they do wear well. We also used them for overnight, but we have experienced a few minor leaks. The Earth's Best are really full in the morning, even if they don't leak, where as the Bambo didn't feel as heavy and full in the morning and they would never leak. During the day though, the Earth's Best are perfectly fine and they have never leaked. Because of this, I feel the Bambo really isn't a neccessity during the day...and not to mention the Earth's Best are much more affordable, especially if you do Subscribe and Save through Amazon. Okay...for those of you wanting to know the difference between the old and new Bambo diapers...I think when a product you use changes, you automatically freak out. Everyone seemed to be doing this and so did I. I really didn't even think about giving the new Bambo diaper a chance at first, but then decided I might as well see how they work. When I got my shipment in the one big change I noticed was that they were much thinner, but I also realized how much softer they were than the Earth's Best diapers. When I put them on my son that night, I also realized that they just feel and fit much nicer than the Earth's Best. But, other than being thinner, I really didn't notice any significant changes to the new version...no weird smell or feel like some people had mentioned. After the first night in the Bambo, it was clear that they hold up MUCH better at night and I'm sure are more comfortable for my 15 month old son. The bottom-line for me is while I love the Bambo diaper (new and old), I just can't justify the cost for during the day when the Earth's Best does a great job for a lot less. At night, the Bambo does a much better job, so I will continue to use it as a night diaper. I did sign up for Subscribe and Save for the Bambo which gives me (I believe) 180 diapers, and I have it shipped out every 6 months. So, for around $75 I get 180 nights of diapers. Final verdict, Bambo's new diaper is JUST as good as it was before and if you want to shell out the money, it would be a superior diaper for day/night...but, if you want to save a bit and still have an environmentally friendly and natural diaper that holds up really well for your babe, try Earth's Best for during the day and splurge a bit for Bambo as a night time diaper.
