I bought this to record a video tape that was getting worse with every view - my wife's skydiving experience. I used it with Windows 10 home edition. Following what other reviewers said, - I first connected the adapter to the computer - Windows installed some drivers automatically and then - I installed the software that comes with it. Straightforward, no problems here. - I connected it to the the VCR and opened the installed program on the computer - opened settings - selected the input video (VHS VCR USB) - selected the input sound (same as the above) - selected the destination folder on my computer - selected ntsc high definition format - pressed the big red record button and pressed play on the VCR. All of the above steps took approximately 10 minutes. It started recording without any problems and my wife's family discovered more tapes :) So far I have recorded a total of 3 hours - worked flawlessly. Hope this helps :)
