I very rarely write a glowing review, especially when it comes to pet products- I am notoriously picky for writing 4 and 3 star reviews because just 1 or 2 things could be improved. Having said this, please take my word, as a pet parent, who's pets are her kids- this kennel is a dream. While I took out a measuring tape and visualized the 36" prior to ordering, it really didn't sink in just what the footprint was until it arrived. This is generous in size- but not at all inconvenient to manipulate, store, or transport. Because of the aluminum frame, the kennel itself is very easy to lift and move. However, it has enough substance evenly distributed, and the frame is thick enough, that it feels impressively sturdy. I can see this traveling with us to the beach with no fear of winds! We primarily bought this for our 4.5lb Morkie who, sounds small but is actually 22" from snout to tail and 16" high. While she is an adult she is a high energy dog that loves people and has to greet and inspect everything. She usually goes out with us everywhere, and we have a variety of slings and such, but sometimes we just don't want to have to harness her up or tie her down to free our hands. (Think camping, parties in the park, community events.) This is perfect to pop up and toss her in when we can't pay full attention to the ruckus she could get into. We also like to have something to put the dog in when we visit my father, where she doesn't have to be locked up of we run to the store or out for a quick errand. Even he was impressed with the build and sturdiness of this kennel! The kennel has several nice features. It folds down, but never gets smaller in width than the footprint of the kennel itself. The bottom floor does not collapse any further, but the sides latch into place with a simple bracket system that is intuitive and easy to use.These sides fold down for easy transport and the kennel has velcro and handles to not only secure the unit for travel, but make transport a breeze- Really, it is SO easy to carry, I lift it with the dog, her bed, and her toys, all the time! Keep in mind the bottom floor is fabric- a canvas type material- with no padding or cushioning. If you are setting this up outside be sure to give your pets bedding for their comfort. This kennel also has several mesh windows which zip open or closed- including a main side panel that actually rolls up and velcros in place to allow your dog to go in and out as they please. The top also provides a fair amount of shade, when zipped, offering some shelter from the sun when in use outdoors. We've had this up in our living room since it arrived and torn it down to take various places multiple times- I have NO complaints, it is just what I've been looking for!
