My first attempt at installing/configuring/maintaining home video security system. Been in service for about 5 months now. Easy to install and connect. User interface could be improved. Windows user interface could be improved. Mac user interface could be improved. Smartphone UI could be improved. Android device Ui could be improved. System itself is very reliable. Cameras seem very durable. (make sure you mount them securely). Easy to connect. Be prepared to drill a minimum 1/2 inch hole through each wall you want to pass through, unless you want to cut Ethernet cable and crimp new ends on them. Plug and Play very well. Ability to view live or recorded video remotely, with clarity as good as your internet connection will permit. Nice feature. Including sound. Motion detection is a bit tricky, though it works reliably. This is NOT an infrared motion detection system. It detects motion by comparing adjacent video frames (when one frame varied from the previous, it defines that as motion.) Ability to set up the exact field of detection with precise accuracy. Email notifications were overwhelming while trying to configure motion detection. I was never able to achieve Push notifications. I'm not complaining. Its value is probably on par with the price. The user interface could be better, I think. More user friendly. Update: 11/7/19. 4 1/2 Stars. In service for over a year. Working like new. Make sure your cameras are mounting securely, as they tend to shake when the wind blows. Cameras get dusty and collect spider webs. Must be cleaned periodically. Night vision is hypersensitive. Easily detect even the smallest flying insects. Range is always going to be less than you want. Remote playback and recording work well. Including an audio stream. Any camera can be easily temporarily disabled simply by unplugging it at the camera. They can be reconnected easily without having to be reconfigured. I'm no expert, but I would highly recommend this system to a friend or family. Ease of use, ease of installation, user-friendly interface. I need to watch more carefully for software updates, in order to be able to report that they update frequently. Update 5/10/2020 This system continues to work well for us. We especially like remote monitoring via the internet, including the ability to capture and record video remotely. Absolutely no troubles to report after 2 1/2 years service at our remote residence. I would recommend this for a friend.
