My wife just used ours for the first time. I was in a back room of the house and didn’t even know she was using it until I came up to ask when she was going to start. It locked down the smell as well as the smoke, which is always nice. She made brats, and they were great. Really great. The thing works, even with our super-sensitive smoke detectors. Love it. Then I got to clean it. Sweet Jeebus, what a nightmare. I’m glad all she cooked was a handful of brats, because I cannot imagine cleaning this thing after some serious grilling. In the picture I attached, I’ve circled all the parts that needed cleaning. The glass lid, the grill plate, the heating element got drippings on it, then the drip tray, which has a grated opening down to the collection pan... I was running out of countertop space to dry all this stuff. It really did a great job cooking, but I’d almost rather stand out in the freezing rain and grill than bother cleaning it again.
