I found Big Daddy Mac Mix to have a good flavor, however, it does not thicken as a sauce. If you prepare the sauce ingredients of the box mixes separate from the noodles, and bring them to a boil, they will thicken slightly. I prefer cooking the pasta and the sauce in separate pans and then mixing them together. This gives the batch a cheese sauce that coats the pasta, and not just a cheese coating. When I did this with the Big Daddy Mac, it didn't thicken as I brought the sauce to a boil, so here's how I make it. I make this in big batches. I like to use small seashell pasta. Cook and drain 16oz. of your favorite pasta. Set it aside. In a large skillet, melt 1/4 cup butter and whisk in 2 Tablespoons of flour. Add 2 cups of 2% milk, 1/2 cup of the Big Daddy Mac, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. The salt quantity can be modified as you like. Whisk this constantly over medium high heat until it bubbles. Remove from heat and stir in pasta. This will give it a thicker sauce and won't just be a cheesy coating. My kids are now addicted to this. If this thickened without adding flour, I would definitely give it 5 stars. I know I'm rating it for something that it was not intended to be, but whatever.
