Taste just like the real thing.
As a low-carber who gave up pasta, I cannot tell you how delighted I was to to find these. In one week, I tested edamame noodles, soy bean noodles, black bean noodles and these. I liked the other noodles just fine but each had their unique taste profile. These? they taste like regular pasta. I love that they're slightly chewy, even if I cook them for longer than the suggested time. I'm so excited to have found these and have made many recipes with them. They're not what you'd eat if you were eating very low carb, but for moderate carb days they're a fabulous treat.
I posted a recipe on my blog twosleevers for them, and several of my friends have since tried them and the reviews have been uniformly positive. I've posted it below along with nutritional information.
LOW CARB PASTA WITH SAUSAGE, VEGGIES AND CHEESE
PREP TIME 15 mins
COOK TIME 20 mins
TOTAL TIME 35 mins
Feel free to use any vegetables you have handy for this one.
Author: Twosleevers
Serves: 4
INGREDIENTS
4 hot italian sausage links, casings removed and crumbled
½ large onion chopped
4 cloves of garlic, crushed
2 cups portabella mushrooms, sliced
1 yellow bell pepper, chopped
1 red tomato chopped
6 cups baby spinach chopped
1 small bunch basil chopped (optional but delicious)
2 servings of carba-nada egg fettucini
4 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat a skillet and mash up the italian sausage until it looks like ground beef
Once it starts to sizzle and renders a bit of oil, add chopped onion and garlic and let the two cook together for 2-3 minutes.
Add in mushrooms and bell pepper and cook until the sausage is cooked through.
Add spinach and tomato, mix everything together, turn heat to low, put a lid on it and let it all simmer
Meanwhile, heat water in a large pot and cook your pasta. I cooked mine for 7 minutes.
Divide pasta into four bowls and put equal portions of topping on each, sprinkle with cheese and serve hot.
