In 1944 I was on leave in Paris, and while riding on the Metro (subway) I smelled this wonderful odor on some of the women riders. Si I asked them what it was, and was told it was Shalimar Perfume by Guerlain, and that it was available in the Guerlain store on the Champs Elysee. So I went to their store that day and was told that they would sell only 3 bottles of perfume each day, So the next day I was first in line, there were a lot of people lined up to get into the store, and when the door was opened to let me in, I bought a 3 ounce bottle of perfume for a thousand Francs ($20). I shipped the perfume to my wife in Bay City, Texas. She has since, used no other perfume in our 70 years of marriage. Although now I buy the EDP, because I can no longer afford the perfume.
