As a former groomer I have used the Furminator brush a lot, so I know what I am talking about when I say that this product does as good of a job! I just received it so I don't know how it will hold up over time, but the Furminator doesn't last forever either. Quick tip: Make sure you are checking your dog and/or cats skin when you are using the brush. If it is red don't worry, just take a break. These brushes can irritate the skin pretty easily. Also, there is no need to press firmly. Just lightly run over the fur and see the results!
