Attention People with Thick, Wide-Blade Grass!
Overall, I'm quite pleased with this lawn mower, but it has its limits.
The Pros:
The mower is easy to assemble and fairly light weight. I've only been using it for about a month, but so far I am impressed with its construction, and have no reason to doubt it is a high quality product that will last me quite some time. I'll update the review if I turn out to be wrong.
Operationally, it offers everything I could want: a wide range of height settings and the option to mulch or bag my clippings. It even has a little clip to secure my extension cord so I don't unplug the mower while mowing. When I mow, the mower is quiet, smooth running, and capable of mowing my fairly thick lawn with easy, except...
The Cons:
I live in Florida. My lawn is St Augustine grass. It's a wide-blade grass with a fairly high moisture content. This mower cuts it well, but only if I set the mower to bag the grass.
If I use the mower in mulching mode (where the mower is set up to blow my clippings out its side and back onto my lawn) the mower can barely manage to cut my lawn without clogging. It just doesn't have the power to cut through my grass and mulch the clippings. And keep in mind, I mow weekly. So I'm not talking tall, out of control grass.
For me, this limitation is no big deal at all. My lawn is tiny: I only have to empty the bag once. But if you are set on mulching as you mow, and you have wide-blade grass, you might want to go with something more powerful.
With that caviot, I highly recommend this mower.
