Bests & Worsts Reviews from Amazon

I was buying an air purifier because of chronic pet/dust allergies and sinusitus, and recently diagnosed COPD. So I read every single review on Amazon and learned TONS from the reviewers! Critically important for anyone buying a purifier with pulmonary problems (asthma, COPD, chronic bronchitis, emphasema) is to AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE any that include inonizers in their products. Ionizers create ozone (a pollutant!) that is especially damaging to people with existing lung problems. There is no "Safe Ozone!" Ozone is what creates that funny smell some reviewers talk about and also can create headaches in people sensitive to it. Being encouraged by another review's very positive experience calling Oransi, I called to ask about their label of "Safe Ozone." A very helpful and knowledgeable representative, Michelle, told me that the larger model that I was thinking of buying had a button on the front to turn off the ionizer!! Yipeeee! So whatever manufacturer or model you research, make sure that it either doesn't have an ionizer, or has a "kill switch" to easily turn it off. My Oransi v-HEPA Max arrived from Amazon in two days; was a snap to turn on; and it is ridiculously quiet, even on the highest fan setting. I'm delighted with it! And since I already know that if I have a wonderful customer support system (REAL HUMAN BEINGS!!! & no long "if this, press that" phone systems) I'm sure if I have any future questions it will be a pleasure to call them again. This warning about ionizers and ozone is so important when choosing products, that I think I'll also post this review under the Oransi v-HEPA Finn model too; the one I was first looking at. By the way, ionizers are now showing up in all kinds of products --like blow dryers! So read product specifications carefully .... -alana
