What's most important to me is a book that holds my attention.
As a retired librarian I have read many, many books. I want to read a book that I can't bear to put down, that holds my attention throughout. I had been looking for a book similar to "Where The Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owen, and "Call Your Daughter Home" by Deb Spera. "The Girls In The Stilt House" provided everything I look for in a good read. Don't miss it.
