Going on our second summer with this life jacket and we love it!
I was looking for a life jacket for my 10 week old son to go boating with. He loves the water, so I also wanted something I could take him in the pool with and let him float. This has been a wonderful life jacket for us with some great features. I appreciate the safety of it. He is secured with a zipper, chest strap and crotch strap. There’s no way he’s coming out of this! I also like the double head rest. This was especially helpful when he couldn’t hold his head up very well. This gave him some stability since it was hard for me to offer much support because of the size of the vest. The handle is great when we are in the pool. I pull him around with it and he absolutely loves it! The only drawback I’ve found is that it pushes up on his face and my husband thinks he looks uncomfortable. I think this is nearly impossible to get around since baby’s don’t have a very long neck. I wouldn't want it to be loose on him. I’m not subtracting stars for it because I don’t see a way around that. We have used this in the boat multiple times and my son falls asleep every time and usually doesn’t cry. He’s 3 ½ months old and smiles, babbles and laughs when he’s in it. So it can’t be too uncomfortable. I hesitated before buying this because most if the reviews were written by people with older babies. Rest assured, this will work for a younger kiddo, but I think the squished up cheeks will resolve when he lengthens out more and his neck gets longer. When you are choosing colors think about safety. I liked the blue one best, but then I figured in case of actual emergency it might be hard to spot, so I ended up going with yellow. I will post pictures soon of him in it so you can see how it looks on a 3 month old. 1 year update: The life jacket fits him better this year. He's 16 months and about 25 lbs right now. He's used it twice this year and it works great. We actually just got back from paddle boarding. We sat on a board together and he wore the life jacket. I'm really happy I'm getting so much use out of it, especially since it wasn't cheap. Great product! The three pictures are from the last two summers in the life jacket at various ages. So the first two around 4 or 5 months old and one at 16 months. 2 year update: My son is 2 1/2 and we're still using this! I'm adding a picture from a couple weekends ago. I'm not sure if his precise weight, but I'm guessing around 35 lbs. It still fits him wonderfully and is working well. I realize he should go up to the 30 to 50 lb vest, but I tried one of those on him and this one still seems to fit better. I like that in emergency it would keep him afloat on how back still. He never complains about this and puts it in willingly. I'm definitely glad I invested in this in the beginning.
