Best headphones I've ever owned. (runner)
Someone on Reddit recommended these and I picked them up without reading any other reviews. I'm so glad I did because these are easily the best headphones I've ever used for running. Some of the negative reviews I've read here and seen on youtube are obviously from non-runners expecting the sound quality to be similar to similarly priced normal headphones/earbuds. That is not a fair comparison at all. You sacrifice some sound quality (especially bass) for significantly increased safety and mind blowing comfort. If you've tried running with normal ear buds you know that after a while they can start to get annoying. They irritate your ear canal, and even with hooks will slip around requiring you to push them back in or readjust them every so often. Those annoyances are non-existent with these. Nothing is actually in your ears. They're extremely light weight and stay in place regardless of how long or hard you run or how much you sweat. The connecting band that goes around the back is semi-rigid and doesn't touch your head or neck. I've actually seen people complain about that and want it to fit snug against their neck, but I completely disagree. Having a cord touching or bouncing against my skin while I'm running is also annoying and it's clear that the rigid design of these is intentional and meant to avoid that. I really hope that AfterShokz doesn't stray from that design choice in future models. One complaint says they don't like the design because they can't lay their head back with them on, but that's not what these are for. These are for active people doing things like running, hiking, and cycling. If you want headphones for relaxing around the house, there's other headphones for that. The reviews saying that they failed and that there's no warranty have to be blatant lies because the box includes a card all by itself stating that they have a two year warranty and providing a URL to visit to make a claim if you need to. It also says so right on the box. Another reason these are great is that more and more races are starting to ban headphones for safety reasons. The ones that do are also starting to add exemptions for bone conducting headphones. If your race has a headphone ban but no exemption email the RD and ask for one. The other benefit for races is you can hear race directions and the countdown at the starting line as well as spectators cheering you on. Previously I had to either choose music or the spectators but now I'm looking forward to hearing both! When people ask me what gear I use for running, I'll tell them. But I've never bought anything that has made me a zealot until now. I want to tell everyone I possibly can about these things. They're that great. You really have to experience them to understand. No description will do them justice. If you're really on the fence, try looking for a place you can demo them like your local running store or a race expo. Anyway, I stand by this review 100%. If you're a fellow runner and buy these and don't find them to be the most comfortable headphones you've ever run in, let me know. Because as far as I know, nothing beats these.
