"THIS IS IT!" Buy this Book, and Enjoy Learning and Playing
Hi Fellow Guitar Players. I have been playing guitar since 1964. I was basically a Garage Musician. Was in a band and had a "Hit" in the 60's. Playing my guitar was cut short for a few years, as I served my country in the US Army. I am an active musician. O.K......Let's get to the point. I have purchased many DVD's, books, have had a few guitar lessons, where they the teacher used tabs, and taught you more licks. It was nice to learn licks, follow the tabs books, and play like Clapton, SRV, Michael Hedges, and on, and, on. All of the above were NOT getting me to the place where I wanted to be. I want to be versatile, and have the ability to play in any style of music from jazz, to rock, to polkas. I also have a desire to read music. The skill of playing in different venues lies in the scales. I have purchased many books and DVD's, teaching scales and other approaches. They were so monotonous, and boring that you would put them on the shelf, along with your other "lost cause" items. This can lead you to become discouraged, and eventually cause you to consider giving up and discontinue playing. Then I came across this book (with CD). If you want to move into the area where you can play more than just the blues, and some fancy licks, this is the BEST product I have found. It is well written, and takes you through the learning process one step at a time. They pace it very well, from step 1 on through. I am a slow learner. There are books and DVD's out there. Some of them are just over my head. I am an intermediate player. They assume that you know some theories, and have knowledge, so when you get into the product, you are lost, you have already spent $40 more or less, and wind up putting it on the shelf, or in a box, with your other "stuff." This book is good, no matter where you are in your learning process, beginner or advanced. I highly recommend it. The accompanying CD is great. If you are searching for a book that is USER FRIENDLY, beginner or advanced, this is the one to buy. You will enjoy playing, learning, and keep your interest up as you go along. You will see the direction you are going, and you will be very happy with the skills and knowledge you obtain. Best of all, you will be happy with what you can play after a few pages into the book. "THIS IS IT!" Have fun, Don
