and I like it quite a bit
I purchased this unit from a local retailer, and I like it quite a bit. I have only had it for about three weeks now, but so far it works exactly as advertised. The price from Amazon.com is excellent, too (I'm almost considering taking mine back & ordering from Amazon, especially since I've got a Prime membership. If I come up against any problems with the unit, I'll update this post at a later time. However, nowFoods is a great brand that makes excellent products. I personally use many of their essential oils & related products (their Jojoba is particularly good, & my wife & I actually use nowFoods Jojoba in our homemade lotions, both solid & liquid). This is a fantastic diffuser, though I can only attest to what it's done over the past 3 weeks. I used to use a candle-heated diffuser, which often burns through the water before it burns off the oils, causing the remaining oils to burn, releasing acrid & potentially harmful smoke. This won't happen with this diffuser. Add the water, a few drops of the oils you like, alone or in combination, & turn it on for instant steam (look up Thieve's Oil--it's sold by people that charge way too much, so find a recipe & buy the constituent ingredients from someone like NewDirectionsAromatics & make your own blend, always more rewarding). The one problem with purchasing this or any of the other quality diffusers available is that if you're new to aromatherapy you'll need to purchase essential oils. There are several essential oil brands & wholesalers, some better than others. Reputable wholesalers can usually offer the best pricing for a very high quality product. Amazon offers several varieties if nowFoods Essential Oils at great prices & with Amazon Prime shipping. Buy them at the same time you purchase your diffuser to save time & money, have everything delivered at once. If you want to get sample sizes of oils or would like to have a variety of size & pricing choices available to you, then I would look at I would stay away from doTerra & Young Living brands. They're expensive, & the quality doesn't really justify the expense. Look for good wholesalers. Some of my favorites are: NewDirectionsAromatics, MountainRose, LotionCrafters, & BulkApothecary. Many of these online wholesalers don't require a minimum purchase, & they offer quality product & several size & price options for those just starting out or those who've been doing this a while. Furthermore, some wholesalers, like NewDirections Aromatics offer data sheets from their lab's processing & testing so that you'll know what you're getting & what potential hazards are involved with a particular product--important information for anyone! As for quality assurance & pricing difference, take a look at Frankincense for instance. 15mL of Frankincense from doTerra costs $93! Meanwhile, New Directions Aromatics offers 1/2oz (essentially 15mL) of their highest grade of Frankincense for just under $18, & they make claims about certification nor do they trademark any verbiage that would suggest quality certification from an outside agency. They do, however, provide a comprehensive MSDS for each & every oil they sell! The MSDS is so comprehensive that it lists each component of the essential oils as well as EVERY conceivable ingredient of every product, sans marketing gimmicks. Based on price, one might assume that New Directions Aromatics is either diluting their oils or offering an oil of lesser quality. However, New Directions not only SAYS they scientifically test their products, but they also offer you the proof. Brands like doTerra offer their trademarked "CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade" certification, which is their own internal assessment of the product, not a certification from an outside agency, as they make it seem. It's misleading, & they charge handsomely for it. If you're buying this diffuser, you'll be buying essential oils. Those available from nowFoods are high quality & are reasonably priced. Stay away from things that seem too expensive based on comparison shopping. Do your research, read the information available, & don't fall for clever marketing schemes with high prices. Use these wholesale sites with confidence for purchasing quality, essential oils at good prices. I apologize that my assessment on the oils, oils that unfortunately don't come with the diffuser, takes up more space than the review of the diffuser itself. When I saw mentions of particular (overpriced) brands in other posts I felt compelled to offer what I know about oils, tidbits I've learned from classes at local manufacturer/retailer outlets, from a dozen different books, & information gleaned from over 20-years of using these products. Look for the information that's available, stay safe, & enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy.
