Substitute teacher lifesaver
I substitute teach for elementary age kids, and this game has made me the most popular sub in town. When kids are doing well and following directions, they get a sword to put in the barrel and try to make the pirate pop. They will move mountains to get those swords. So much work being completed lol. I started by saying if the class as a whole could get him to pop 4 times, everyone gets a reward, but just the game itself is reward enough usually. Sometimes if they place the sword wrong, or too roughly, the pirate won't pop, but it's hilarious to see them get down to the last few swords, desperate to make him jump out. I usually retry each one until he pops, then they argue over who's sword that was. Good times. I love to hear every morning, "Yay!! Miss Melissa!!! ...did you bring the pirate?" I will mention, the reason they enjoy it so much is the rarity of chances to make the pirate pop. Each kid gets maybe 2-3 swords/chances a day. This makes it exciting. I've noticed at home, when kids play with it freely, especially the older they are, they will play maybe 2 or 3 times before becoming bored and moving on. I'm no philosopher, but I feel like there is some deeper leason there. Either way, it is a very cute game, works as described, came packaged nicely, and has been the biggest hit at my school since fruit snacks.
