I bought these pillow cases after my *high maintenance* boyfriend complained that our flannel pillowcases were too hot. I wanted to find something that worked well to keep him cool at night, but was affordable too. These pillows are the perfect thing! The front of the pillow cases aka the cooling side are a light gray slightly heathered color and are easy to match with most bedroom palettes. I tried to take pictures of them, but my atrocious rental apartment lighting does not do them justice. The back of the pillow cases are a darker gray. The back still feels cool to the touch, but the light gray side is significantly cooler. Since buying these cases, my boyfriend does not wake in the night to flip his pillow. He does not flip around groaning that it’s hot (even though I’m in a sweatshirt and pants). He is quiet and let’s me sleep. I freaking love these pillowcases. The best feature, in my opinion, are the zips. We have hefty down pillows that fall out of a lot of pillowcases. Plus, my boyfriend is an Army veteran, and suffers from some nasty nightmares and sometimes quite literally thrashes in his sleep. By the end of the night the old pillowcases usually ended up off his pillow. Now I am convinced heat exacerbates his bad dreams/PTSD, because he honestly sleeps so much more soundly now. And the best part is, our pillows stay in the cases. I didn’t even realize how much that annoyed me, putting pillowcases back on pillows every day, until I didn’t have to anymore. Gotta love the zips!! In short, these pillowcases truly do a great job keeping you cool at night. I don’t know how it works, but it does. Every time we go to bed, the pillows are super cool and they stay that way throughout the night. Good stuff!
