We have done the white vinegar thing, and also tried this Keuring brand descaling solution (which we found works faster and better than the vinegar -- although at a much heftier price). The first thing you need to do is take the water tank and drip tray off of your machine and turn it over in your sink and spank the bottom of your maker. I am not kidding and not making this up -- it is a widely suggested trick on the Internet. Then use the vinegar or descaling solution -- then you give it another good spanking, then cycle through clean water. Your machine will work like new until the next time you have to do it over again. We have found the filter deal helpful, too.
