Not perfect, but very fun.
The PSA: Read the instructions. I see a few reciews saying the thread is too thick, and thats because it is. The instructions says to cut a piece about 18inches long then seperate the 6 strands that make up the thread. This makes it useable and the amount of the thread given in this kit is way more than enough for the three patterns it gives. The good: A fun way to pass the time. The instructions are straight forward and there is PLENTY of thread to make even more than the three patterns the kit comes with. The patterns are super cute and simple for a beginner like me. The middle: I didn't have too much trouble with the smallness of the pattern, but I can see how someone with worse eyesight might have trouble seeing and counting stitches. There are only three patterns to pick from and two of them involve a donut. While they are super cute, it would have been nice to have more to pick from. A needle threader would've been nice to include, but its not too hard as long as you seperate the thread into 6 pieces and wet the tip of the thread before trying to thread it. The bad: The instructions could come with pictures or a link to a cute pusheen cross stitch video. I have never cross stitched before and while the instructions were enough to understand, I still had to fill in some gaps of knowledge. Like "what do I do with the end of the thread? Do I just leave it untied and dangling in the back?" Also, I didn't start in the center like the instructions say to. The hoop is so small that I was worried if I started in the middle, I would end up off and the pattern wouldn't fit in the hoop. I started this pattern from the bottom. Another con is that the hoop is rather small. Its just barely big enough to fit the pattern. Also, its kind of hard to seperate the thread into 6 strands because of how it twists back onto itself, but after a few tries you can figure out the best way to do it. After its all said and done though, this is a fun way to pass the time. I hadn't even considered adding cross stitich to my arts & crafts knowledge but I think I might now. It's a good introduction into cross stitich, especially for its cheap price. If you don't have much patience though I wouldn't try this. The picture above is about 5 hours of work and I'm not even done!
