I had similar ones before but none that I could actually hear myself. I am very impressed, and it doesn’t seem to bother my two dogs at all. It has three settings the strongest one being the red. There’s nothing to put together, just open the box and plug in. I have it in my kitchen where I used to have mice. I did catch and release and I put them in a safe large wooded area that a friend of mine owns. They made a nest underground from roots of a dead upside down tree. No mice since I placed the Ultrasonic pest repeller. Now keep in mind that this is a deterrent so you need to catch and hopefully release them and the pest repeller will keep other ones away. I also made sure I plugged all the little holes I could see outside the house to discourage them. When I’m in the kitchen I do turn the unit down once because as I said the red level is very strong and it does bother me so I can imagine that little things like mice or even other pests will definitely be affected by it. When I leave the kitchen I turn it back up and of course it’s on red all night when critters are more active. I have one and my home is about 1,700 square feet and it seems to be enough. I’m buying one for my mother because she had mice earlier this year and this will keep new ones away. I sincerely recommend this, if it can be irritating to my large central nervous I can only imagine how a small animal would feel.
