You never know how bad something is until it breaks and you have to replace it! I had the same hair dryer for 7-8 years and it finally died. I had a moment of silence for it... it did a good job. I ordered this one based off the reviews and based off of knowing the "Conair" name. It didn't disappoint! Its so much lighter than my old one, my oldie was as heavy as a brick it felt like. My hair is thick and below my bra strap, it dries it completely in just a few minutes! The cord is short but long enough for me and where I have to plug it into. VERY, VERY happy with this purchase!
