MAJORITY (PERHAPS ALL) OTHER REVIEWS ON THIS PRODUCT ARE BY PEOPLE WHO GOT IT FOR FREE/DISCOUNTED
I received these in the mail, today. I purchased them based on the facts that #1. I was looking for a BPA-free plate that wouldn't break easily, and #2. This product had a 5-star rating, with multiple reviewers. So far, the plates look sturdy enough, albeit they are a little thinner and more flexible than I expected, based on the previous "reviews." They are a bit thinner than my silicone cake pan that I use, when baking. I am initially giving 3-stars. I will update, once we have washed/used them a few times. HERE IS WHY I AM REVIEWING THE ITEM SO EARLY AND ONLY GIVING A RATING OF 3 STARS, BEFORE USE: After receiving the plates, I looked closer at the existing reviews, and--silly me--it appears I'm the only reviewer who did NOT get a discount or receive the items for free, in exchange for my review.... This realization makes me a little distrustful of the current 5-star rating, unfortunately. It also made me wonder if I made the correct purchase choice. Since, thus far, I appear to be the only reviewer who paid full price for the item (unlike 99-100% of people who previously reviewed it), I can actually HONESTLY assure other consumers that this is an unbiased review. NOTE TO AMAZON: Had I realized that all of the previous 5-star reviews were basically bought and paid for, upon ordering, it certainly would have impacted my purchase choice. I should have read them, more closely, prior to purchase. However, I am a busy parent and I shouldn't have to take the time to do Amazon's QA for you. It is misleading and downright dishonest to regular consumers, like myself, for your website to allow the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of reviews for any item to be written by people who received the item for free, or at a discount. Amazon needs to do something about limiting the number/proportion of reviewers, per item, who have received those items at a discount/for free. It has been my personal observation that these reviewers always seem to give 5 stars on EVERY single product they review. I've seen their reviews on multiple items, and I've never seen them provide less than a 5-star review, so everyone can give us normal consumers a break about how "honest and unbiased" their review is. As someone who has worked in Quality, I suggest you update your review process, so that people who write reviews should be required to check off whether they received the item at a discount/for free, prior to writing their review summary. That will also allow you to regulate/limit the proportion of these reviewers, per item. Updated on Mar 6, 2016: I updated to 4 stars. Please see my post, below.
