I have a Basset Hound named Odin that is 6 months old and HE’S SO HEAVY. When we first got him he was only 15lbs, but now HE’S 40LBS. He’s not overweight or anything, he’s just a growing boy and someday he’s going to be 70 – 80lbs *GULP* 0_o Our big meatloaf is a spoiled brat, we let him sleep on the bed with us. The unfortunate thing about that is sometimes he has to go potty…AT 3AM. And guess what he does when he has to go potty? He licks…my face. And steps…ALL OVER ME. So my much needed beauty sleep is disturbed by our pup trampling all over me. He’s too small to get off the bed, so he needs me for assistance. So one day (a few weeks ago) I decided to buy some pet stairs! (I kind of procrastinated on it for a while) Odin also demands that I bring him up on the bed, which I am too lazy to do usually. He’s too short to get up on his own. So he sits there miserably and waits for me to break my resolve. (See pictures) I did some research and narrowed down which set of stairs I should get to two different ones: the Pet Gear Easy Step, or the Solvit Folding Stairs. I liked the folding aspect of the Solvit stairs, but I was skeptical at how sturdy they really are after reading some reviews. So, I went with the Pet Gear steps and I am super happy that I did! Here are some positive notes: +They took less than 5 minutes to assemble +They seem very sturdy +Odin can get up and down with minimal effort +They don’t slide around +There is a little carpet pad on each step for extra grip and traction for Odin Now, some negative notes: -I wish I could store them more easily, they don’t fold and they don’t collapse. AND DON’T EVEN THINK I’M BOUT’ TO UNASSEMBLE THEM AND REASSEMBLE THEM EVERY TIME I WANT TO PUT THE STAIRS AWAY -I wish the steps were a little deeper and wider to make it even easier for Odin -I felt the price was a little high, they could’ve gone down another 10 dollars but my options were pretty limited Overall, I am really satisfied with these stairs and Odin approves too! He even tried to show me by chewing up the carpet on each step :)
