Let me start off by saying how happy I am by this purchase. There's a few flaws with installment because of my window, which is the only reason why I knocked off one star, but this AC is truly is a game changer. I live in NYC and window AC's are almost a standard unless you're fortunate enough to move into a remodeled or new building that has a ductless or wall unit. My apartment is south facing meaning I get constant sunlight all day. It's often hotter in my apartment than it is outside without an AC. This AC is as quiet as using a small fan and cools pretty quickly. It could be colder but I haven’t had enough days to use it for me to see how it runs during a real NYC sweltering summer. Because I live in a prewar building, the windows are a little wonky and don't properly fit the window but I made it work. I also think the back bracket sticks way too far out but I'm considering having someone shorten the back so that my landlord doesn't throw a fit over anything spilling onto the fire escape, which is another reason why I needed to find something compact EVEN on the outside of my window. All in all, BEST AC I've purchased yet.
