I am a Professional Home and Personal Chef and I also teach cooking skills. I take all of my kitchen items, tools, utensils, knives, serving items, and other accessories very seriously and when I test and review culinary items, I am highly critical and meticulous in evaluating and rating them. My reviews are honest and unbiased. Good is good…bad is bad! I have been looking for a 4-slice waffle maker that actually works well for quite some time. It's one of the things I've been missing in my home kitchen...so when I had the opportunity to test and review this Elechomes Waffle Maker, I looked forward to the hope that it would finally be one that would meet my needs and desires. I was not disappointed! This unit is well-built and adequately robust. Controls are intuitive and easy. Cleaning is about as non-painful as it can get! My testing was done with my favorite pre-mix pancake/waffle flour from Kodiak Cakes (Available on Amazon and your supermarket). Following the directions, I pre-heated the iron and when the green ready light came on, I sprayed a small amount of canola oil on the upper and lower grills. I then poured a little over one-cup of waffle mix into the middle of the waffle iron and spread it with a spatula to cover all corners of the base equally. Closed the cover and set the control to level 3 for the test. About three minutes later, the green ready light came on and upon opening the top, there was a beautifully cooked and fluffy 4-slice waffle awaiting! The non-stick surface made removing the waffle easy and without residue left on the grill plates. The things I really like about this waffle maker include: * Removable grill plates that are easy to clean or to use in the dishwasher. * Controls are nothing more than a browning level knob for desired finished waffles * Great waffle recipe book included with the set * Clear and concise instruction booklet * Locking top when stored * System ON light and Ready Light * Lifting handle stays cool to the touch throughout cooking. * You can check doneness by lifting the top and closing again which does not interrupt the cooking, and the browning adjustment can be increased without starting from scratch. Once you have found the appropriate browning level for your tastes, that setting will always produce the same result if using the same ingredients. I am pleased to have found this waffle maker that is exactly what I have searched for and meets my needs. It will be in use regularly for breakfasts in my home kitchen!
