Same Blender for EIGHT YEARS
* I understand people's frustration with this product. You don't have enough money for a Vitamix or don't think it's worth it, and you think that a comparable machine that costs $200 should at least not "fall apart". The Nutribullet Rx is great. I've used it every single day at least twice for a month. The rubber gasket has never come out once. I was so satisfied with the product initially, I wanted to see what other people were saying and came on Amazon to read reviews. Everyone was complaining about a seal coming loose and wrapping around the blades or falling out etc. I thought surely this many people can't be wrong! So I did a little investigating and figured out what the problem is. When you remove the blade housing from the cup, you are supposed to use the Blade Removal Tool that comes with the product. It is labeled in the instruction booklet as Blade Removal Tool. Now, to me? That was obvious. I understood instantly what this was for and used it from day 1. Never had a problem. Some people didn't get it though, and they were very quick to rate this machine 1 star. I responded to those people in my original review and I was super condescending about it. :) I then read another review where they mentioned that the absolute necessity of using the BRT should be mentioned more and maybe closer to the front of the manual, and maybe in a bigger font or something. That's correct- it should. If only for the hassle involved in waiting for a new seal, if you're one of the ones that dove right in without thinking about it for a sec. That's a little more diplomatic way of looking at it. SO, rather than be a jerk because I figured something out, I'm going to try and help new users of the RX with these important tips: 1. If you tighten or untighten the blade housing on any of the cups, USE THE TOOL. Hold the cup firmly with one hand, and slowly loosen or tighten the blade. 2. Before putting the blade housing on a cup, check the gasket. Has it already come loose? Is it laying flush in the housing? It should fit snugly around the center ring, in the groove. If it has come off it isn't easy to get back on. When I purposely made it come off, it took a minute or two to get back on. I actually had to hold the ring in 2 spots while using a chopstick to get it back on. A hassle but it worked. If it appears loose, even if you use the tool it may come out during use. The best way to explain this is: Look at the gasket ring. On the top you'll see 3 lines. Now, using the soup cup so you can see down in there, screw the blade housing onto the cup. Look and you'll only see ONE line of the gasket. That means that the cup is actually sitting on the gasket. That also means that it is impossible for the gasket to "come loose" during use and get "wrapped around the blade" UNLESS it was not secure before screwing on the blade housing. 3. I easily recreated the conditions that caused the gasket to come out. I also easily avoided them for a solid month of twice-daily use. If you unscrew with your hand and not the tool? Sometimes the gasket comes out. Imagine you've put a rubber band around a roll of toilet paper, just at the edge. Now if you squeeze the toilet paper roll, the rubber band can come off. It's that simple. The blade housing is big. I have big hands and it still feels big to me. It's not made of stone so when you have to use a fair amount of force to unscrew it you're actually compressing the piece. Sometimes this makes it easier for the gasket to come out in the right conditions. If you don't notice and attempt to use again, I can see how it would easily leak or get wrapped around the blade or fall out whatever. 4. If you think it's a pain in the butt to have to inspect or keep track of the gasket before and after use? Do what I do. Use the soup cup. The soup cup is just like a standard blender cup so you don't have to take it on and off all the time. I've found that filling the cup just a little past the MAX Line with Veggies and water produces two 24 oz. smoothies. I've made 4 every day for a month. Final note on this review. I was a bit distressed to see this product on Amazon for $60 less than I paid from the official website so I emailed Nutribullet about it and was told that Nutribullet does not have any authorized retailers on Amazon. He also said something about buying the machine 2nd hand and that it voids the warranty. I'm not sure I completely understand what he was saying but I paid the extra $15 for the 5 year warranty so I don't care. I've been extremely pleased with the quality and performance of this product and recently told a friend: "If it catches fire after 2 years and never works again and Nutribullet won't honor the warranty? Still worth it." *UPDATE 2018* *4/5 years later and it's still going strong. Nothing outlasts the Rxegizer *UPDATE 2019 - Still going strong. I've even disassembled and cleaned the insides. Still works great. I did eventually have to replace the blade. 20 bucks aftermarket *UPDATE 2020* I've now owned this blender for SEVEN YEARS. have used it for everything. I was one of the the very first reviews on Amazon and I'm still using the exact same blender all these years later **UPDATE 2021** Still going strong after 8 years. I've replaced the blade twice. Motor still holding up.
