I've used the press twice now while traveling, and I'm really loving it. I bought it to replace my beloved 12-ounce Bodum, which was great for travel, but I always had to wrap it up ever so carefully in my carry-on ... and the glass finally did break when I banged it on the kitchen counter. This press is a little bulkier than the glass/plastic Bodum, but it's worth it to be able to throw it in my checked bag and not worry about it breaking. Pros: - The instructions say to hand wash only, but I threw it in the dishwasher, and it held up just fine. - Unbreakable in my checked bag - just throw it in and go. - Retains heat better than my Bodum did. - Makes one full cup of coffee. (Standard 12-ounce cardboard coffee cup found in most hotels.) Cons: - True to other reviews, taking it apart the first time to clean it was REALLY difficult. (We had to wrap the shaft in a rubber band and use pliers.) This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Now that the initial taking apart is done, it takes very little effort now to unscrew it. All considered, I'm very happy with this press so far, since I'm on the road 9-10 months out of the year and have to have good coffee! ** Travel Coffee Tip #1: If you're traveling with 2 people (or just want 2 cups instead of 1), make one pot of coffee with twice as many grounds. Then fill each cup half-way and top off with hot water. It's way faster than making one cup at a time. ** Travel Coffee Tip #2: If you're staying in a regular hotel with no kitchen / garbage disposal, and are worried about clogging up the bathroom sink with the grounds, no worries. Once you've drunk your coffee, add water to the grounds left in the press, swish it around, and pour it into the toilet. Flush it away, and you're done! It's so much easier than trying to scrape out all of the grounds into the garbage can, and there's no fear of clogging up the bathroom sink, either.
