Not the same plant variety as doTerra <UPDATE> doTerra changed their frankincence variety description!
I love my doTerra frankincense. But it is sooooooo expensive. I have liked other oils I purchased from Eden's Garden, so because of the price I ordered this. When I opened it, it did not smell like the doTerra frankincense. I knew it wasn't the same and was really disappointed. With a closer look, I saw that Eden's Garden uses Boswellia carteri and doTerra uses Boswellia frereana. A little research later, I found that B.frereana is considered a higher quality frankincense, but B.carteri is also good. I will use them both and see if I can tell the difference with use, and not just price and smell!
After I give it a fair chance, I might adjust my rating.
<UPDATE>----------------------------
So, I have been using my Eden's Garden frankincense, and liking it, but the smell still bothered me. I actually liked the smell of the B. frereana but the B. carteri smells like burnt rubber to me. So, since I was running low, I thought I would order more from doTerra. I got on their website to read the description again AND IT HAD CHANGED!! It is now being described as a mixture of B. carteri, B. frereana and B.sacra-not the pure B. frereana anymore.I think I'll save some money and order more frankincense from Eden's Garden.
P.S. I changed from 3 to 4 stars
