I have a down & feather pillow that was leaking feathers. I bought this cover to prevent the leaking as well as to protect the pillow itself. I've been using this 1-2 weeks, and I've not found any escapee feathers. When I initially put the cover on, I thought it seemed loud, but I did not notice it at all once I actually used the pillow for sleeping. I thought about dumping water on my pillow to test the waterproof claim, but I decided I didn't want to wait for the case to dry. :-) I think the terry cloth would be a little rough to sleep on directly - I use a smooth cotton or flannel pillow case, depending on the season. The terry cloth does keep my case from slipping off. I bought a set of two; the second is in reserve. But the case seems durable, so I don't expect to need the second unless someone else in the family wants one!
