My dog is 5lbs, 14 oz, so basically 6lbs. She fits, but it's not spacious and she struggles to turn around in there. I would buy this item again. However I have a pros and cons list below that summarizes my more detailed thoughts. Some random tidbits from how I got her in it and how I outfitted it: She loves the purse. I started lure her into it with treats and then lifted her into it only one time while we were inside the house. Later that day we went for a long walk while it was raining. She hates the rain! I set the purse down to tie my shoe and she darted to it! After 4 days she's now a full believer. When I get the purse out she gets pumped. I take it on walks, to the bar, on the bus, to friends homes. Since she hates walking so much sometimes I put her on the purse, walk a ways away, then have her walk back toward the house. I made a little down pillow for the inside as the bottom is hard. I also put a 1'6" x 1'x6" blanket in there to cover her with. They all fit but it's snug. Pockets are large enough (combined) for 6' nylon leash, harness, extra sweater, small bag of food, treats, collapsible travel dish. Pros: *Pockets that are reasonably spacious. *Feels sturdy *It's cute. Though I'd prefer just black. I just think white material and dogs only mix well for so long. *Handles seem long enough and aren't uncomfortable. However I also put handles on the cons list. *It gives her a convenient travel den. *Has mesh and opaque top-opening cover *Zippers don't snag Cons: *A little tight for my 6lbs dog. *No cushion on the bottom. The bottom of the bag itself is just canvas. There is an insert that has a strong (maybe?) cardboard inside of a non-removable material cover that Velcros in. I worry about it buckling at some point. For now seems good! *Handles are not adjustable. *Opening for dog to crawl in is very small and does not extend all the way to the floor of the bag. my dog often feels more comfortable hiking up to the wider top opening. *Mesh cover on top-opening has no easy way of being held back when that feature is not in use. *Opening at only one end *Mesh at only one end. I'd prefer both ends zip open fully and seal by mesh. This sort of relates to the point another reviewer made which highlights the fact that you can only wear the bag on one shoulder unless you want A) have your dog facing backwards - depending on the mode you want to employee (mesh window or zipper window). B) don't want pockets bulging between you and the bag. C) have the top zipper not in easy reach. Despite my cons list this purse is the best one I found that combines most of the things I want from a dog-purse. I'd rather have the cons associated with this bag than the cons associated with most of the other bags on the amazon market. The bag is really low key, most people do not even notice I have a dog inside. I love this! The bag is comfy and not ugly and, again, my dog REALLY loves it. She gets excited when I pull it out, she is pumped to get in the purse and I think it makes her feel safe when we are in new places. I would recommend it! EDIT: 1/30/17: the straps have started to degrade and crack. I will have to replace them soon though it looks like it will be fairly simple to cut off the old and add new ones. The cracks have appeared mostly at the turning point where the strap slopes from a tube to a flat surface. All 4 corners are experiencing this in one way or another, my photo reflects the worst of them. Still rating the bag 5 stars. I love this bag and, again, more importantly, my dog does too!!! We go a lot of places together, on the bus, to work, to friend's homes, parties, parks, movie theaters, pubs, in the car and she ALWAYS has a happy place to go to and feel comfortable. She loves it! #crateawayfromcrate #homeawayfromhome EDIT: 6/20/17: I replaced the straps with some extra band bag straps my partner got me off Amazon. They just clip on to the rings the straps used to hang from and we cut the ratty straps off. Works well again now! The zipper pull for the large zipper pocket detached but you can still zip it and I think I could reattach it, I just have not gotten around to it yet.
