I have 3 strings of these on an outside tree. It's great to not have to run cords across the yard, worry about turning on/off, or heck, even pay for electricity! The little solar panels conveniently stick into the ground (or balance on a branch, if you prefer), and really dont' need to see much sun, just daylight, really, to work. One downside, if this is a downside, is they glow a sort of dim bluish color. If you're looking for that garish bright white, you'll be disappointed, this is more of a calm, pale sort of light. I personally like it, however, and next year will be getting more.
