We had one of these which we used regularly for a decade. The plastic got old and showed hazing and cracking to we gave it away and tried one of the new silicone ones -- but were not happy. So we bought one of the Presto PowerPop poppers and found that it works just as well as the old one that served us so well. We pop with olive oil and stop when popping slows noticeably and get no burnt kernels, with no more than half a dozen unpopped. The plastic is slightly lighter and thinner than our old one, but I put that down to improvements in plastics over the decade. It certainly works fine and seems quite sturdy.
