Good for the price with one basic flaw
I’ve had the camera for a few days and it’s a great value. I’m in agreement with the positive views, but wanted to point out one flaw in the product that should be fixed by the manufacturer. As other reviews noted, this is not a 24/7 camera...it only records when it detects motion. As with many other cameras of this type, there’s a gap between when it detects motion and when it actually begins recording its 20 second motion video. Thus, when you watch the video on your iPhone, you might not see the person approaching your front door...the video might start with the person already at your door, or in extreme cases, the video might start with the person walking away. This lag time between the motion and the start of the video is a common issue with all motion detecting cameras, so I don’t fault the product for this. But stick with me on this because here’s the flaw...the video that IS captured and available on the app can’t just be sent to someone (the police, insurance, etc). There’s a feature in the app to send a still picture, but in order to send a video, you have to literally play it back and hit a record button to record the video you already have on the phone. The app won’t let you hit record, then play to capture the entire video. You have to hit play, then quickly hit record. This causes you to lose 2 to 3 seconds of a video that you have already lost 2 to 3 seconds of in order to create a separate video that you can send. Having lost 3 seconds initially to the motion detection gap, followed by losing another 2 to 3 seconds to the archaic hoop you have to jump through to create a sendable video means you’ve lost the first 6 seconds of your video if you want to send it to someone. I got the camera so that I’d be notified when a package is left on my doorstep. It’s perfect for that, and I recommend it. If being able to send a complete video to the police or insurance company is important to you, I’d suggest a 24/7 camera. The strange thing about this flaw is that it should be correctable. The video is already on my phone. Why make me lose the first three seconds of it just to be able to send it. Anyway, hope this review helps someone. My overall impression is that this is a great camera for what it does and I recommend it.
