Awesome Helper! . . .If you can accomodate its limitations.
I've been using this vacuum daily for a month and a half and so far I think it's great. It keeps my three bedroom/ two bath hardwood and stone tile floor cleaner than I ever would, but I do have to make a few small sacrifices that I find are well worth a three minute morning ritual: 1. I have to make sure cords are not touching the ground, or if they are, I have to create a barrier so that the robot will not get caught in them, because it really loves to get caught in them. 2. I have to roll up my bedroom and bathroom rugs or close my bathroom/bedroom doors in the morning because it loves to roll up the corners or edges of most rugs and get caught on them. Although I do have one rug that stays put pretty well and rarely causes issues. 3. I have to scan the ground for clothes and small toys that could cause problems. 4. I have to make sure that the bottoms of my two S-shaped Ikea chairs (about 1/2" high) are creatively blocked (I am experimenting with folded slats of cardboard, but pillows also work pretty well.) As long as I do these three things, all my floors are spotless and the critter plugs itself in to its charging hub waiting for the next morning's job. Occasionally, I hear the three beeps and have to rescue it, or I come home and find it tangled on something, but it is very good about shutting itself off immediately and waiting for help if it gets into trouble, so it's never been much of a hassle to free it, set it back down and push the button. It's not an intelligent navigator. It just bumps around (or avoids objects it "sees") and seems to use randomized turns and maneuvers to vary its behavior, but it moves around enough to get everywhere. It's rare that I find crumbs or anything anywhere in the house after it's done. The vacuum is strong enough for pretty much anything you need a vacuum for. I don't have pets inside, so I can't talk about pet hair. It's not very loud, but if you want to watch TV or work, it can be somewhat distracting if it's nearby. The dust compartment is very convenient to remove and clean. It just pops out, you dump it, and then you can clean the three filters (screen, foam and foldy-paper-filter-thingy) with an included brush that conveniently snaps into place next to the compartment. It seems to hold enough for three or so days worth of cleaning (depending of course on the state of your place - and likely less than that on it's first mission, or if not used daily). The battery is great so far. It runs for at least a couple of hours. Long enough to clean my entire place, and once it's low on power, it turns the vacuum off and bumps around until it "sees" the Infrared beams projected by the charging hub, and then it plugs itself in. I don't think it's ever not made it back home except when it gets stuck on something. Oh, and it closed itself into the bathroom one time. It also has an edge-cleaning mode which apparently keeps it cleaning close to edges it encounters. I never use this as it seems to do an adequate job on edges in it's standard mode. It also has a spot-cleaning mode, which has it kind of spiral around the area where you set it down for a few minutes before it resumes standard cleaning mode. I've used this a couple of times when I want to make sure it gets a trouble area with the mop or to handle some vacuuming need that comes up between cleanings. It can also be remote controlled, which seems a little clunky with the buttons on the controller, but works okay I guess. I have only played with it once. The one thing I really don't like about it is the programming. You cannot, for example, program it to clean every other day, or just on Thursdays and Sundays, or any other schedule except the same time, every day. But what's worse is that the only way to set the time it is going to clean is to wait for that time to come and then press the button. That said, it does seem to obey it's scheduled cleaning time without fail so far. The mop is not terribly impressive. It's basically the equivalent of lightly dragging a moist cloth around the floor. It's not going to scrub out any hardened jelly spots in the kitchen or anything like that. But it's far better than nothing and I use it about once a week or so. It gets minor scuffs and things, and helps prevent the need for real mopping in bathrooms and kitchens. You just add water and whatever cleaning solution you prefer (Pro tip: avoid citrus-based solvents like citri-solv! It started to eat through the rubberized plastic stopper on the mop attachment. Fortunately I noticed it before it went critical.) The mop function usually lasts about an hour before running out. So if you can easily accommodate this thing's needs by keeping it away from cord and rug hazards and don't mind the lack of scheduling options, I'd say it's well worth the money.
