BE PREPARED TO EVACUATE--with 2021 Update
We have a cat with pica. He eats things he ought not, so we spray down the Christmas tree and treeskirt with bitter apple every year. This year, when we pulled out the bitter apple, it had stopped tasting bad (as we found out through a mis-spray) so we ordered Bitter Yuck. It arrived promptly and we set up the tree. I then began to spray. Bitter Yuck has a nice, easy to use trigger handle that allows you to spray a whole Christmas tree with less hand cramping than the hairspray bottle offered by Bitter Apple. This is a plus. You can deliver a lot of this nasty, noxious, hellish substance to a tree in short order. Then you can stand back to admire your work. This is where you will make your mistake. The correct course of action is to spray quickly, then run away. Far, far away. As you stand back, you will suddenly be aware that something isn't... right. Your mouth, despite careful efforts to breathe through your nose, tastes off. This taste intensifies with each successive breath. You can't figure out why. You carefully didn't open your mouth while you sprayed the Bitter Yuck. Then you realize. The call is coming from inside the house. The cloud of Bitter Yuck has penetrated your oral cavity via your nasal passages. And it's not going anywhere. No, once it's in your nose, it's in your mouth and you're doomed. That's when the gagging starts. By the time your spouse and roommate, on the other end of the room, start gagging, the heaving has set in. At this point, a smart being would evacuate. And so that is what we did. We fled. We ran to the other end of the house, where the flavour lingers and the occasional dry heave continues. If the little bastard eats the Christmas tree with this stuff on it, then there's no stopping him. This should prevent even the strongest, most motivated chewer. If not, well. It'll at least get you out of the room you're trying to protect so you won't see the damage. Good luck. UPDATE, 1.5 YEARS LATER: We are now moving and we were packing the Christmas stuff for the move. We made the mistake of packing and eating brownies at the same time. We touched the Christmas stuff. We ate a bit of brownie. We threw out the brownies. It's been since Christmas 2019. It is now July 2021. The potency has not been reduced (though it doesn't hit the air and get into your nose and mouth aerosolized once it dries). This stuff has amazing staying power. I still highly recommend it!
