I bought this product over a year ago and never used it until recently. One reviewer claimed that the machine was loud but that I found to be silly. If you are planning on cleaning your nose in bed next to your spouse still sleeping then you might want to wait. However, if you are in the bathroom then I doubt it would bother anyone. The sensation feels like when you turn upside down in a swimming pool, as you feel pressure in your upper nasal cavity, but instantly goes away when you are finished using the machine. You are able to breathe through your mouth so no need to fear choking on water. I initially held my breath thinking I might choke on water, but that was not the case. I used distilled water and the saline pack supplied. After blowing the water out of my nose had the air smelling slightly like bleach to me. It went away in about 5 minutes. This might not be something you would want to do in front of your new boyfriend or girlfriend, unless they are in need of a diet, as the sight of it might curb one's appetite. When you blow your nose after using this machine is to discover a whole new world that your finger has been missing out on. A great product for those of us who cannot get the job done the old fashion way. This machine is a great pipe cleaner, and you will be looking at your tissue as though it was the winning lotto ticket. Absolutely disgusting but worth it! My nose remained absolutely clear for about an hour before the new residents moved in. If you use a CPAP machine then you will like this machine. If your nose is constantly stuffy then you will like this machine, but you cannot use it if your nose is entirely clogged. It would be the same as flushing a clogged toilet, as the water will flow the wrong way, and the flea buffet still remains. However, if you have repeated sinus infections and problems breathing at night then you will be happy with this product.
