Ok so a lot of people on the reviews do not understand how this product works. It actually works as it was designed to, and will keep your room warm in winter and cold in summer! We had this for 1 month and it worked up the cold room by 3f . And we could warm it up more if we wanted to (to up to 6 degrees ferenhight then normal. We know this as we have thermostats in all rooms connected to central ecobee 4. So how does it work? First off a quic point on your heating sistem (if you live in the USA) .... the way it works it sucks up the air in your house , heats it up about 20F-30F more and then sends it back through the duck work in to your rooms. This is important to know. Your air conditioning does the same but decreases the deperature by about the same amount. Now back to the unit! There is a thermostat in the unit that measures the temperature INSIDE the heating vent! NOT in Your room. When your central air starts heating your house it heats the exsisting air and sends it to your room, at that point the unit senses that the air in the vent has increased above set temperature (that is it Seneca’s that your heat pump/unit is on ) and it turns on the 2 fans in the unit. We keep our house at 70F so we set the unit to turn on when it Seneca’s the heat in the vent at above 80f (we could have put 90f but it works good at 80 as well) . For cooling we set the temperature at 60f or below on the unit as we keep the house cool to about 68F. So when the Central AC turns on it sends cold air (at around 48 that is 68-20=48) the thermostat in the unit measures that the temperature is below the “set” 60F and it turns on the 2 fans in the unit to help cool down your room.! You can set bought cool and hot temperatures and don’t have to switch in fall and spring withe this unit. How do you control how hot or cold your room gets if the unit thermostat is meant to just turn on and off the unit? Withe the Fan SPEED setting. The higher the speed you set the wormer the room will get. We had it at 10 speed (10 out of 10) and it was getting to hot in the room (based on our feeling and independent thermostats we have collecting our home data ) . So we adjusted for a few days and settled at 6 speed out of 10. Now we are perfect!! The onley thing we are considering is getting a smart wall plug to turn off the unit during the day as no one is home upstairs so we see no need to keep the bedroom that warm. We plan to invest in the smart plug and have it shut off the fan from 9 am to 6 pm.... will see how that goes but it’s just our preference. Hope this review solves some of the misunderstanding about the units thermostat. Alll of this is exsplained in the written instructions that will come withe the unit. Have fun!
