I hope this review helps others understand about this mattress. First off I'm a side sleeper (6ft. tall and 185lbs). I had a 10" medium firm memory foam mattress that lasted for several years. However I had turned, rotated and flipped until It just would no longer give me a good night's sleep. Worse it was hurting my back. With the new mattress my back ache is gone. Is it as soft as the memory foam, no. But I have no problem sleeping on my side. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would rate it as 6 for firmness. Considering the price I thought if it was too hard I would add a foam topper and still spend far less than most mattresses. I don't think the topper will be needed. Helpful hint. Place the wrapped mattress on your bed. You can roll the wrapped mattress and find the end of the mattress. Have the end facing up and about 6 inches from you headboard. When you cut the plastic away the mattress will pop open toward the foot of your bed. No need to battle getting it onto the bed. Lastly, there was an odor to the mattress that lasted a few hours. Luckily the mattress was opened around noon and by night time I could put on the sheets without having an order. Did I let it expand for a day or two, no. I slept on it that night and it was fully expanded (actually it was fully expanded within an hour).
