Mosquito dunks deserve the highest number 5 rating of everything I've purchased here on Amazon!!! They work like any MIRACLE PRODUCT should. I had a significant fungus gnat problem, resulting from having carnivorous plants and vanilla orchids (you'd think the carnivorous plants would've kept the issue in check. But no!!!). For some reason they weren't consuming them, and that's the reason why I paid $50 for them lol). Both types of plants are supposed to be kept damp at all times. Not only did they start the fungus gnats, but they passed them on to all of my other plants. So, I had lived with it for months...ugh...gross. I put about 1/4 of one dunk into each of my gallon jugs of water. ***Quick note...I did NOT put the caps back on the jugs of water. Maybe I'm wrong, but I figured since the dunks are living organisms, they would need oxygen to live. I also left a few inches without water at the top of the jugs, so as to give them space to come alive and spread out.*** I didn't want to jeopardize all of my efforts by killing the organisms off. Within about 14 days, almost all of the pests were eradicated. The adult gnats will not be killed with this product and they can live from 14 to 30 days. I did find though, that it was harder to kill all of the larva from my damp plants, so the gnats came back. I didn't realize that I needed to put some of the dunks right in the water those plants were sitting in and not just their gallon of water (just a small piece of a dunk for each, from the pieces left over from hacking the original ones). Since the gnats had moved back to the other plants again, I then bought some mosquito bits and used them according to the package directions. This took care of the problem again, and I've been gnat-free ever since...which has been over 3 months. I would highly recommend these dunks to anyone with an indoor gnat problem. Prior to using this product, I had tried several other remedies...from using both commercial products and homemade concoctions that I had found from research through google. I found that even drying out all of my plants really well did not work. I think that's just a preventative practice, and once you have the nasty pests you're doomed. I'm getting ready to buy my third package of these dunks. I've got about thirty plants, each in an 8 to 12 inch pot, and I haven't even used 6 dunks yet. That's pretty economical for what they've accomplished for me. IMO, that's well worth the money.
